Scholarship Information

The Tucson Rodeo Foundation, Inc. (“TRF”) is proud to present the Glenn and Susan Dabbs Scholarship Fund.

The TRF’s mission is to invest in future generations, with a focus on continuing and strengthening the western way of life, through education and the development of youth and community programs related to agriculture, livestock, equestrian, veterinary medicine, and rodeo entertainment and competitions. The TRF is a duly incorporated Arizona nonprofit corporation under the Internal Revenue Service code 501(c)(3).

The Dabbs Scholarship will support those who aspire to contribute to the western way of life through the enthusiastic pursuit of a career within the agriculture, farm and ranch, equine, bovine, ovine, veterinary medicine, or western sports industries.

Applicant Requirements:

  • The applicant has existing ties, experience, or affiliation with a western industry or western lifestyle and has a passion to pursue a career in agriculture, farm and ranch, equine, bovine, ovine, veterinary medicine, or western sports industries.  Degrees pursued may be varied but with the intent to be utilized to further a career in the areas mentioned above.
  • Applicant must be enrolled as a full-time student and at least a second-year undergraduate at the University of Arizona, Pima Community College, or a first-year graduate enrolled at the University of Arizona College Of Veterinary Medicine.
  • Applicant must submit an application, and provide at least three references and a transcript.

Scholarship recipients must submit grades each semester. It is the duty of the scholarship recipient to submit their grades at the end of each semester. A minimum grade point average (“GPA”) of 3.0 is required to obtain the scholarship and the recipient must maintain a 3.0 GPA to qualify for any possible future scholarships.

Noncompliance of Career Path of GPA:

Should the scholarship recipient fall below a 3.0 GPA or pursue a degree that falls outside the parameters of the spirit of the scholarship as explained above the scholarship will be nullified.  Recipients can appeal this decision if there are circumstances that are deemed acceptable by the TRF and the scholarship review committee.

Required Materials:

  • Application: Applicant must complete the TRF provided application.
  • Transcript:  Applicant must submit a transcript from the last semester of college with the application.  A scholarship recipient is required to submit a transcript at the end of each term.
  • References: The applicant must submit three reference letters, one from each of the following: one personal, one professional, and one from an instructor.  The reference letter must state the relationship to the applicant, a reference as to the quality of the applicant’s character, perceived impact this scholarship would have on the life and future career within the areas described above.  Personal references should be someone that has known the applicant for at least two years.  THE THREE REFERENCE LETTERS MUST BE UPLOADED VIA THE APPLICATION FORM ALONG WITH ALL OTHER DOCUMENTATION.
